Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya stated, "We are transitioning to a 4-group 12/36 system for police working hours. The new working system will be implemented in October or November of next year."
Minister Yerlikaya spoke during the discussions on the activities of the Ministry of Interior and its affiliated institutions for the year 2025 and the budget proposal for 2026 at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.
"WE HAVE TRANSITIONED TO THE DUTY POINT SYSTEM"
Expressing that the duty point system was implemented in March 2025, Yerlikaya said, "With this application in the Appointment and Relocation Regulation, the appointment system has become fair, transparent, and suitable for institutional needs. Previously, there were two equal status and excuse appointments per year, but now we have started to make an excuse appointment every month. Additionally, in the general appointment period of 2026, which is next year, a mandatory second notification will not be sent. We are working on the General Directorate of Security Organization Law. We will prepare our work related to an organizational law that our organization has long awaited and will present it to the esteemed Parliament."
HE ANNOUNCED THE GOOD NEWS POLICE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR
Indicating that there will be a change in police working hours, Yerlikaya said, "After distributing our newly graduated personnel to their colleagues, we are transitioning to a 4-group 12/36 system. We could not do this before due to personnel shortages. But we have completed all our preparations. God willing, we will complete this in October or November of next year. We are working on balancing the salaries of our colleagues working in the Gendarmerie, Coast Guard, and Security services. We will all see that when the time comes," he said.
