Yüksel Güran's lawyer: My client’s chastity was attempted to be compromised.

The third day of the second hearing in the Narin Güran murder case continues with the defense of mother Yüksel Güran's lawyers. Lawyer Yılmaz Demiroğlu, who stated, "A disgusting scenario has been constructed," said, "My client’s chastity was attempted to be undermined. A scenario was fabricated supposedly based on her seeing the relationship between Salim and herself. We know that Nevzat's statements have never aligned with the material truth."

After going missing for 19 days in Diyarbakır, the lifeless body of Narin Güran (8), found hidden in a stream bed under bushes and stones, is continuing its second hearing on the third day of the murder trial. The detained defendants; mother Yüksel Güran, brother Enes Güran, uncle Salim Güran, and neighbor Nevzat Bahtiyar, are being tried for "intentional murder of a child in complicity" with a request for aggravated life imprisonment.

On the third day, after the last defense of mother Yüksel Güran was taken following the lawyer of brother Enes Güran, Mustafa Demir, Yüksel Güran's lawyer Yılmaz Demiroğlu spoke after the break given in the hearing.

THE DECISION WILL BE ANNOUNCED TONIGHT

While the expected decision did not come out on the first and second days of the trial, the presiding judge stated, "If necessary, we will stay until 02:00 to announce the decision."

"MY CLIENT'S CHASTITY WAS ATTACKED"

Referring to the contradictory statements of the informant Nevzat Bahtiyar, Demiroğlu said, "How was our Narin murdered, why is Nevzat behaving this way? We know that in the Turkish-Kurdish society, there is absolutely no situation targeting women or children, their chastity. However, a disgusting scenario was created here, and my client's chastity was attempted to be manipulated. A scenario was fabricated supposedly based on seeing the relationship between Salim and her. We know that none of Nevzat's statements ever corresponded with the material truth," he stated.

"NOT A MATTER OF REASON AND LOGIC"

Demiroğlu stated, "It was said that there cannot be a murder for 50 thousand lira, and I think so too. However, the animosity created by this amount can be different for each person. We understand this from the statements of Nevzat's brother and son. Nevzat tells his brother Mehmet and Ferhat, 'Stay away from Salim Güran and his family.' Again, it is very clear that he did not communicate with Salim after this critical date, in May. It is unreasonable to tell someone with whom there is a problem, 'Come take this corpse.' Moreover, to say 'I was with my aunt' is not a matter of reason and logic," he expressed.

"I WILL ANNOUNCE THE ACCUSATION AGAINST THE MOTHER TO THE WORLD"

Highlights from Yılmaz Demiroğlu's defense are as follows:

"Some media outlets failed to fulfill this responsibility. By publishing photos of my clients, attempts were made to instruct people about your court. As a defense lawyer, I say that our Narin was brutally murdered. The Minister of Justice also said, 'No point will remain in the dark.' However, the accusation directed at the mother, based on a soldier's mind-reading, is a record taken from a section of the presented indictment. I leave this situation to the discretion of legal experts. Today, I will announce this accusation against the mother to the whole world."

"Your court panel is also being attempted to be discredited in this way. We hear elsewhere; it is said, 'A decision has already been made.' These statements are aimed at lowering our motivation. The only reason for the presence of 4 defendants today is the deficiencies in the investigation phase by the law enforcement."

"WE WILL NOT ACT AS IF SOMEONE'S STATE DIGNITY WAS SHAKEN"

"The first statement is always important. In the first report regarding the missing case, the time of disappearance was stated as 15:00-15:30. In my opinion, the fault and deficiency in this file are being charged to the family today. However, the family is not responsible for the late arrival to Narin. We will not act as if someone's state dignity was shaken."

"It should not be overlooked that the evidence shown as the source of the accusation in the indictment and the opinion is merely narrowed base information. According to what you learned from experts regarding narrowed base, it is not even possible to detect base signal strength retrospectively."

"WE KNOW THAT NARROWED BASE WILL NOT PROVIDE ACCURATE DATA"

"We know that narrowed base will never provide accurate data point-wise, and we think it should not be presented as evidence in the criminal file. When evaluating statements in judicial practices, we have Nevzat's statements. We must assess whether these statements are contradictory. Nevzat's statements can never be given superiority. Why? Nevzat was caught after the detection of his vehicle in Eğertutmaz Stream on September 8, 2024, and his statement was taken. However, he changed his statement again after the first statement was taken. (He explained the details of the constantly changing statements)"

"The statements made in the interviews on Didem Arslan Yılmaz's program are being evaluated. It has saddened us that these statements are still being presented as evidence against my client and included in the opinion."

"WE REQUEST THE ACQUITTAL OF THE MOTHER"

"Another indication that Nevzat's story should not be believed is that there is no record of any call or communication between Yüksel and Salim. No matter which evidence we look at, we cannot fit this anywhere. When we truly evaluate all the evidence, we see that there is no evidence regarding mother Yüksel."
