The new buildings constructed within the scope of urban transformation right next to Avcılar Ambarlı Cemetery created striking images as the distance between the cemetery and the structures reached a remarkable level. It was observed that the windows and balconies of the zero-occupancy apartments directly faced the cemetery. A neighborhood resident, who said he was shocked by the sight, remarked, 'I don't know how it will be, but I think the friends who will live there need to have a lot of courage first.'
The new buildings constructed within the scope of urban transformation right next to Avcılar Ambarlı Cemetery created interesting images as the distance between the cemetery and the buildings became remarkably small.
IT REMAINED WITHIN THE RESIDENTIAL AREA
The fact that the new buildings rising with urban transformation are located extremely close to the cemetery area created an unusual landscape in the region. In the images, it is seen that there are many graves right in front of the building, and in some sections, only a narrow passage remains between the structure and the graves. In aerial footage, it is also seen that the new structures rise right next to the cemetery and, together with other surrounding buildings, the cemetery remains almost within the residential area.
CEMETERY AND NEW BUILDINGS ON THE SAME SQUARE METER
In aerial images, it is seen that the new buildings built through urban transformation form an almost intertwined image with the cemetery. It is striking that tombstones can be seen directly from the window openings on the floors of the structure, revealing some apartments' facades facing the cemetery. There are only a few meters between the tombstones and the outer wall of the construction.
Apartment owners, who refrained from speaking to the cameras, stated that having the cemetery this close does not pose a problem for them.
"I WAS SHOCKED WHEN I FIRST SAW IT"
Bekir Şen, a resident of Avcılar who noticed the interesting view at the cemetery, said, "Thanks to our contractors in Avcılar, they say they are selling apartments here. Actually, they are selling cemeteries to people. I mean, can such a structure exist? It's a mind-boggling building. I was shocked when I first saw it. But you see, the buildings, the protrusions, you see them right now, literally on top of the cemetery. The lower floors, the building's lower floors remain below the cemetery level. This is just not possible. I don't understand how they are given zoning permits for this. One day I came to visit a relative at Ambarlı Cemetery. And what did I see? Brand new buildings right next to the cemetery. The lower entrance floors are below the cemetery level. A person could jump directly from the balcony to the cemetery."
"THOSE WHO WILL LIVE THERE NEED COURAGE FIRST"
Şen, who argues that the buildings built through urban transformation should have been set back at least a few meters, said, "But the building seems to have been pulled even closer to the cemetery by 1-2 meters. It's very much built adjacent. I don't know how it will be, but I think the people who will live there need courage first. Because these are truly cemetery-view apartments. There's no other direction to look at while having your tea or coffee. Are these apartments what the people of Avcılar deserve?" he said.
