The Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) convened in an extraordinary session regarding Israel's attacks on Gaza and the delivery of humanitarian aid. In a statement made during the General Assembly, TBMM President Numan Kurtulmuş said, "United Nations forces should be sent to Gaza, and Israel's UN membership should be suspended." Meanwhile, during the session, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will provide information to the General Assembly about the latest developments.
CHP Group Deputy Chairman Murat Emir announced that they have called the Parliament to an extraordinary meeting to discuss Israel's attacks on Gaza and the need for humanitarian aid. Emir stated, "We, as CHP, DEM Party, New Path Party, Re-Welfare, TIP, EMEP, and DP, have called the Grand National Assembly of Turkey to an extraordinary meeting on Friday, August 29, at 14:00."
"UN FORCES MUST BE SENT TO GAZA"
Following the request of the opposition parties, the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Numan Kurtulmuş, announced that the Parliament would convene extraordinarily. Speaking at the extraordinary session, Kurtulmuş said, "Israel continues to commit crimes against humanity by deciding to expand its occupation operation in Gaza. Every action of Israel in the occupied Palestinian territories is a violation of international law, a war crime, and genocide. I propose that concrete steps be taken urgently, and that their memberships in international organizations, including the UN, be suspended until Israel reverses its genocidal policies. UN forces should be sent to Gaza."
Kurtulmuş continued his remarks by saying, "The Palestinian cause is a national cause for us. I promise that we will support this struggle until a free and sovereign Palestinian state is established."
Meanwhile, during the extraordinary session, the deputies wore scarves carrying the flags of Palestine and Turkey.
FOREIGN MINISTER HAKAN FIDAN'S STATEMENT: SUCH A PLAN IS NULL AND VOID IN OUR VIEW
Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan addressed the General Assembly during the session focused on Gaza in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. In his statement, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said:
Last year, I stated that Israel's strategy would not be limited to Gaza. We are sadly witnessing our predictions come true. For two years, Israel has been committing genocide in Gaza, disregarding fundamental humanitarian values in front of the world. The genocide in Gaza has deepened further. Israel disregards fundamental humanitarian values. The Turkish nation feels the pain of the Palestinian people intensely.
We are against any plan that anticipates the expulsion of the Palestinian people from Gaza. Regardless of who presents it, such a plan is null and void for us.
Our contacts with Qatar and Egypt continue to ensure a lasting ceasefire. Israel does not want any legitimate Palestinian administration in Gaza. Israel is obstructing the distribution of aid. It is using hunger as a weapon. This is not a natural disaster. Israel's state terrorism continues.
The tension between Israel and Iran poses a risk to the entire region.
We have cut all commercial relations with Israel. No other country has severed all commercial ties with Israel.
Despite the painful situation in Gaza, thanks to our stance against oppression, Western countries have begun to adopt the two-state solution. Countries, including the UK and France, have announced their decision to recognize the state of Palestine. Thanks to our efforts, Israel's false legitimacy has collapsed. The magnitude of the atrocities has revealed the mask. The West has been forced to engage in moral accounting. We continue our contacts with countries like Spain and Ireland.
