BODIES OF TWO HOSTAGES RECOVERED
The army also announced today that the bodies of two hostages have been recovered. Israeli media reported that one of the hostages is 56-year-old Ilan Weiss, who was kidnapped by Hamas on October 7, 2023.
STATEMENT FROM THE ISRAELI ARMY
In its first statement today, the Israeli army announced that the so-called temporary daily "tactical ceasefire" declared for humanitarian purposes in Gaza last month will no longer be valid for Gaza City starting today. The statement said, "In accordance with the situation assessment and the instructions of the political echelon, from 10:00 today, the tactical-local ceasefire for military activities will not be implemented in the Gaza City area, which is a dangerous war zone."
1 MILLION PALESTINIANS TO BE DISPLACED
The Israeli army, which is increasing its attacks in the east of Gaza City, which it plans to occupy, aims to forcibly displace approximately 1 million Palestinians in the region.

Following this decision, it was expected that the Israeli army would further intensify its attacks in northern Gaza, apart from the city of Gaza.
WHAT HAPPENED?
The Israeli Security Cabinet approved a plan for the occupation of Gaza City in the north of the region on August 8. Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu stated in an interview before the cabinet meeting that they aim to occupy the entire Gaza Strip.
Reports in the Israeli media also indicated that the army has received orders to occupy the rest of Gaza, but this step is not expected to be implemented before September. According to the plan, in the first phase, approximately 1 million Palestinians will be moved south, the city will be besieged, and after intense attacks, it will be occupied.
The second phase envisions the occupation of the refugee camps in the center of Gaza, which has largely been turned into ruins. Israel occupied the Gaza Strip for 38 years from 1967 to 2005. Today, the Gaza Strip, where approximately 2.3 million Palestinians live, has been under a severe blockade for 18 years.
