A truck whose driver lost control on the North Marmara Highway crashed into a gendarmerie vehicle. After the accident, the team vehicle fell into an irrigation canal, resulting in injuries to five people, including two gendarmerie personnel, and the truck driver was taken into custody. Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya stated in a press release that drugs were found during a search of the truck, and drug substances were detected in the driver's tests.
An accident occurred yesterday around 11:30 AM on the North Marmara Highway in Çekmeköy, Istanbul, when a truck with license plate 34 R 0717, exiting from the Hüseyinli toll booths, crashed into a gendarmerie vehicle at a control point after the driver lost control of the steering wheel.
5 INJURED
As a result of the accident, the team vehicle veered off and fell into a drainage canal by the roadside. Upon notification, fire, gendarmerie, and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. In the accident, 2 gendarmerie personnel in the team vehicle, 2 drivers in the truck, and 1 person in the area were injured. Medical teams provided first aid to the 5 injured individuals at the scene and transported them to the hospital. The gendarmerie vehicle that fell into the water canal was removed from the scene by a tow truck, and an investigation into the accident was initiated.

The accident, in which 5 people were injured, was captured on security cameras. The footage shows the truck speeding, crashing into the concrete barrier separating the toll booths, losing control, and then colliding with the gendarmerie vehicle at the control point.
DRUGS FOUND
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya stated on his social media account, "In the investigations regarding the truck that crashed into the Hüseyinli Toll Booths and our highway gendarmerie vehicle in Çekmeköy, Istanbul; the truck driver Y.Ö has been detained, a quantity of drugs was found in the truck, and the substance was detected in the analysis of the truck driver. I wish a speedy recovery to the injured Specialist Gendarmerie Corporal Hasan Doğan, Specialist Corporal Mustafa Karahaliloğlu, and the injured citizens. Traffic is a living space; everyone who gets behind the wheel has a great responsibility. We will continue our efforts to establish a traffic culture in our country with determination," he expressed.
