This horrific incident highlights the ongoing issue of human-wildlife conflict in the region. Two-year-old Hasnain Nisar was attacked by a leopard while playing in his garden in the village of Sharhama in India's disputed Handwara region. According to local reports, the young child lost his life as a result of the wild animal's attack. Villagers immediately rushed the bloodied child to the hospital, but despite all medical interventions, little Hasnain could not be saved. This tragic event demonstrates that human-wildlife conflict remains a persistent problem in the border area. Numerous reports of wild animal attacks have emerged in the Mawer region in recent months, with many people injured. Despite the efforts of wildlife officials, local residents are concerned about the presence of wild animals in their areas. Many believe that habitat destruction and deforestation have driven wild animals into residential areas, posing a significant risk to human life. Legislative Assembly Member Sheikh Khurshid visited the scene to express his sorrow and urged wildlife officials to intensify their efforts to capture the animals responsible. Sheikh stated, "I extend my heartfelt condolences to the grieving family during this time of great sorrow. It is imperative that wildlife officials act swiftly to ensure the safety of our local residents." This incident recalls another tragedy that occurred at a zoo in Romania. At the Pitesti Zoo, a 52-year-old caretaker entered a tiger enclosure in violation of safety procedures and lost his life as a result of an attack by the animal. According to officials, the caretaker had entered the enclosure without securing the tiger in a safe area during cleaning and had forgotten to close the security gate.
