Engin Akbadal, who has been bedridden for 5 years due to elephantiasis and has reached 300 kilograms in Kayseri, was taken to Ankara for treatment by an obese ambulance. Some walls were broken down to widen the space, and Akbadal was removed from his home with the help of a special team of 30 people. Akbadal said, "I am excited. We will regain our health and return, hopefully. My dream is to make up for the pain of the last 12 years."
Engin Akbadal (48), who lives in the Sarıoğlan district of Kayseri, made a living by working as a porter in various places. About 12 years ago, Akbadal suddenly started gaining weight, and for a while, hospitals he visited could not diagnose him.
DEPENDENT ON BED FOR 5 YEARS
Due to the weight he gained, Akbadal had to quit his job, and it was understood that he had lymphedema, commonly known as "elephantiasis." During the past period, Akbadal, who could not be treated, became bed-bound. Engin Akbadal, who has not been able to leave the house for 5 years, also reached a weight of 300 kilos.
"MY DREAM IS TO REMOVE THE PAIN OF 12 YEARS"
After the news about Engin Akbadal appeared in the media, a helping hand was extended. It was decided to take Akbadal to Ankara for treatment. Engin Akbadal said, "Of course, I am excited. Hopefully, this journey will lead to our health and we will return. We will return, hopefully. My dreams are to remove the pain of these 12 years. To go to places that we could not visit or see with my wife and children during these 12 years. During this process, we first shared a video on social media. May God bless those who love us, respect us, and everyone. Then our dear elder Baki Ersoy did not remain indifferent. He showed us the way and supported us. Hopefully, thanks to him, we will regain our health and return home," he said.
REMOVED FROM HIS HOME WITH A SPECIAL TEAM
