32-year-old Tranyelle Harshman in the U.S. killed her three daughters in a horrific incident at their home on Monday, while her fourth daughter is fighting for her life in intensive care.
According to the Big Horn County Sheriff's Office, the mother called the police after shooting her four children and said she would shoot herself.
Two of the deceased daughters were 2 years old, and one was 9 years old.
According to KTVQ, her 7-year-old daughter named Olivia was found alive and was urgently taken to a hospital in Salt Lake City. Olivia is fighting for her life due to "severe traumatic brain injury."
The mother told the emergency services that two of her daughters were in their cribs, while the other two were in the bedrooms downstairs. She also indicated that the police would find her dead in the upstairs bedroom.
There had also been reports of gunfire coming from the house in Byron.
In a police statement: "The operator pleaded with the woman to stay on the line until the teams arrived. The woman repeatedly said she couldn't do that and that it was too late. Even attempts to hold the line failed, and the call was disconnected," it said.
Minutes after the mother's chilling call, when police entered the home, they found two of her daughters, including 9-year-old Brailey, shot in the head and dead.
The mother was taken to the hospital but died due to her injuries.
Friends of the mother told KTVQ that Harshman had been struggling with postpartum depression.
Briana Baker said, "You can never know what people are struggling with in their minds. Tranyelle was not a monster as this tragedy showed her to be. Her loved ones do not want her to be remembered for her darkest moments. She was sweet, loving, and fun. Her children were the focus of her life."
A GoFundMe campaign has been launched for Cliff Harshman, the father of the four children. The campaign page states: "This devastating event has plunged Cliff and his loved ones into deep sorrow as they try to come to terms with this huge void in their lives. Funeral expenses, family support, and other related costs are adding to their pain."
A second GoFundMe campaign has also been launched for Olivia, who is fighting for her life. The page states: "Her condition is critical; the next few days will be very important for her future."
Byron Mayor Allen Clark said: "In such a small community, everyone is closely related. This is a very devastating event. I pray for the family to be able to endure this and hope for brighter days ahead."
