A 7.7 magnitude earthquake occurred in Myanmar, a country in Southeast Asia. The tremor, which struck at a depth of 10 kilometers, was also felt in Bangladesh, India, Laos, Thailand, and China. The iconic Ava Bridge in the city of Mandalay collapsed into the Irrawaddy River due to the impact of the earthquake.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported that a 7.7 magnitude earthquake occurred in Myanmar, and the tremors were felt in neighboring countries such as India and China.
OCCURRED AT A DEPTH OF 10 KILOMETERS
USGS reported that the tremor occurred at 12:50 local time (06:20 GMT) northwest of Sagaing, 16 kilometers (10 miles) away, at a depth of 10 kilometers.
CITIZENS EXPERIENCED GREAT PANIC
While no statement has been made regarding the effects of the earthquake in the country, which has turned into a war zone, in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, people panicked and threw themselves out of high buildings.
AVA BRIDGE COLLAPSED
The iconic Ava Bridge in Mandalay collapsed into the Irrawaddy River due to the earthquake's impact, while citizens reported that the tremor was strong enough to splash water from pools.
