Sources from the Ministry of National Defense have stated that the deployment of F-16 aircraft to the island is being considered to ensure the security of Northern Cyprus. The Acting Director of the Civil Aviation Authority, Aşkın Meşeli, announced today that 6 F-16 fighter jets will be sent to the TRNC.
The US-Israel and Iran war continues on its 10th day. As tensions rise in the region day by day, a noteworthy statement regarding the TRNC had come from the Ministry of National Defense the day before.
MINISTRY OF NATIONAL DEFENSE ANNOUNCED
In a statement made by sources from the Ministry of National Defense, it was stated, "In light of recent developments, gradual planning is being made to ensure the security of the TRNC. The deployment of F-16 aircraft to the island is one of the evaluated matters."
According to a report by Cyprus Post, Acting Director of the Civil Aviation Department, Aşkın Meşeli, announced today that 6 F-16 fighter jets will be sent to the TRNC. Meşeli indicated that the aircraft would come for security purposes and stated that normal flights would not be disrupted.
BASE IN GREEK CYPRUS WAS HIT
The British base Akrotiri located in the Greek Cypriot Administration (GCA) was targeted by an Iranian drone on March 2. The UK Ministry of Defense announced that the drone that fell on the base's runway did not cause any casualties, injuries, or significant material damage, while it was reported that two drones heading towards the base were intercepted.
US-ISRAEL ATTACKS ON IRAN
Israel and the US launched a military attack on Iran on February 28 while negotiations were ongoing between the Tehran and Washington administrations. Iran responded with attacks on targets it identified in several regional countries, including Qatar, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Bahrain, where US bases are located, in addition to Israel.
In the US-Israel attacks, Iranian leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, along with many high-ranking officials, was killed. According to Iranian officials, 1,332 people lost their lives in the US-Israel attacks.
