In the case of university student Ayşe Tokyaz, who was killed by former police officer Cemil Koç and whose body was left in a suitcase by the roadside in Küçükçekmece, Istanbul, the indictment has been completed. A life sentence with aggravated circumstances and a prison term of 15 years have been requested for the defendant.

AGGRAVATED LIFE SENTENCE SOUGHT FOR MURDER

In the indictment, aggravated life imprisonment was requested for the defendant Cemil Koç for the crime of 'Murder with Intent and Cruelty Against a Woman', and prison sentences ranging from 4 to 15 years were sought for the crimes of 'Deprivation of Liberty by Use of Force, Threat, or Deception' and 'Blackmail'.

WHAT HAPPENED?

The 22-year-old university student Ayşe Tokyaz was murdered in 2025.

The perpetrator of the murder was identified as Ayşe Tokyaz's ex-boyfriend, former police officer Cemil Koç. During the investigation, it was revealed that Koç claimed Tokyaz died after falling down the stairs on the day of the incident, but he had placed her body in a suitcase and removed it from the crime scene. Koç was arrested along with some individuals who assisted in the murder.

It was also revealed during the investigation that Tokyaz had experienced violence during their relationship and was threatened when she wanted to break up. Her sister, Esra Tokyaz, had informed the authorities about her sister's concerns for her safety.

WHAT IS KNOWN ABOUT THE DEFENDANT?

Former police officer Cemil Koç, who was reported by a friend and captured, was dismissed from the police force in 2024. At the age of 38, an indictment was also prepared against Koç regarding the murder of Ejegül Ovezova in Diyarbakır. This case is set to begin on November 27.
