Kocaelispor Vice President Veli Başkurt responded to the statements made by Okan Buruk and the yellow-red management ahead of the Galatasaray match. Stating that they did not show any disrespect to Galatasaray, Başkurt said, "Kocaelispor is a community that has fallen to amateur leagues, and they cannot intimidate this community with such statements. They will act in accordance with their character."

Galatasaray's head coach Okan Buruk and officials said, "We have not forgotten what happened in Kocaeli, we will respond as well." The Kocaelispor side also responded to these words.

Speaking to Beyaz Futbol, Vice President Veli Başkurt said, "We did not approach Galatasaray with prejudice. Just like with other rivals, we invited the Galatasaray Board of Directors to dinner before the match. They did not want to attend our dinner. We did not act disrespectfully towards them. After the match, the song 'Şinanay' was played because the fans requested it, which has also been played many times in their own stadium." he said.
