In Gaziantep, prison escapee Latif U. took his girlfriend hostage along with his brother-in-law and two nephews when he saw the police conducting an operation to capture him. After firing at the police and injuring his girlfriend Gülbahar Ç. in the leg, he fled into a business center, where he took another person hostage. Latif U. surrendered after attempts to persuade him. The moments when he held his girlfriend at gunpoint were recorded by a citizen present there with a mobile phone camera.

RETURNED FIRE AT POLICE, SHOT HIS GIRLFRIEND AND FLED
The incident occurred in the evening on Bostancı Mosque Street. Latif U., who was on leave from an open prison where he was serving three prison sentences, did not return when his leave period ended. After technical surveillance, police teams organized an operation to capture Latif U., whose address was identified. Noticing the police, Latif U. took his girlfriend Gülbahar Ç. along with his brother-in-law and two nephews hostage. Responding to the police's calls to 'surrender' with gunfire, Latif U. shot his girlfriend Gülbahar Ç. in the leg and fled.
TRAPPED IN A BUSINESS CENTER
Latif U., who was pursued by police teams, entered a business center. Trapped there, he took another person hostage. In response, reinforcement teams, including special operations police, were dispatched to the scene. While the teams took extensive security measures in the area, the suspect was persuaded to surrender by expert psychologist Mahmut Kayagan. Latif U., who was taken into custody, was brought to the police station.
