Görele Mayor Hasbi Dede, who is on trial for harassment and was suspended from his position by the Ministry of Interior, has been expelled from the CHP. The reason for Dede's expulsion was cited as the party statute's provision regarding "engaging in attitudes and behaviors incompatible with party membership."
Hasbi Dede, who was tried in a harassment case and removed from the position of Görele Mayor by the Ministry of Interior, was expelled from his party CHP by the decision of the High Disciplinary Board.
HIGH DISCIPLINARY BOARD DECIDED
According to a statement from CHP, it was stated that Hasbi Dede was referred to the High Disciplinary Board with a request for his expulsion on a precautionary basis by the decision of the Central Executive Board dated February 16, 2026.
“EXPULSION” DECISION
In the meeting of the High Disciplinary Board dated April 10, 2026, it was unanimously decided to expel Dede under the provision of the party statute regarding "engaging in attitudes and behaviors incompatible with party membership." In the statement made by the party, it was expressed that the decision was made within the framework of the relevant statute articles.
HE HAD BEEN REMOVED FROM OFFICE
Hasbi Dede was removed from his position as mayor following allegations of sexual harassment against a child. In a statement from the Ministry of Interior, it was noted that Hasbi Dede was referred to the court on February 10 as part of an investigation conducted by the Görele Chief Public Prosecutor's Office for the crime of "sexual harassment against a child" and was arrested for this crime by the decision of the Görele 1st Criminal Court of First Instance. It was reported that Dede was temporarily removed from office by the Ministry of Interior in accordance with Article 127 of the Constitution and Article 47 of the Municipal Law No. 5393. In the investigation in which Görele Mayor Dede was arrested, the statements of four municipal employees were taken.
In the investigation initiated on the allegation of "sexual harassment by taking advantage of the facilities provided by electronic communication tools against a child," Dede, who was arrested, stated that he did not accept the allegations against him.
HE HAD DENIED THE MESSAGES
Dede denied the messages allegedly exchanged with a 16-year-old girl via the messaging application WhatsApp, claiming that his social media accounts were also used by other people and that the application was open on the municipality's communication tools. Four municipal personnel whose statements were taken stated that the claim about the application being open on the institution's communication tools was not true. The relevant communication tools at the municipality and the phones of the four employees were seized for examination by the teams.
HE WAS ARRESTED AFTER THE PROSECUTOR'S OBJECTION
Hasbi Dede, who was elected as the Mayor of Görele from CHP in the last Local Government General Election, was called for a statement on February 8 as part of an investigation initiated upon a complaint, and it was decided on February 9 to impose a judicial control measure prohibiting him from leaving the country. Following the objection of the Görele Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, Dede was called for a statement again yesterday and was arrested by the duty magistrate on the charge of "sexual harassment by taking advantage of the facilities provided by electronic communication tools against a child."
TUANA'S SUSPICIOUS DEATH
On the other hand, Tuana Elif Torun, a high school student who is the victim of the case opened against Hasbi Dede for the crime of 'sexual harassment against a child,' lost her life in a suspicious traffic accident.
