The Presidency Communication Directorate announced that Erdoğan discussed his meeting with President Xi during his visit to the People's Republic of China for the 25th Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.



Accordingly, in the meeting where the economic cooperation between the two countries was thoroughly evaluated, President Erdoğan stated that bilateral trade should be supported by investments to ensure it is balanced and sustainable, emphasizing that the potential in the fields of digital technologies, energy, health, and tourism is significant, and that increasing coordination for Chinese companies to invest in Turkey would be beneficial.



President Erdoğan noted the importance of taking joint steps to harmonize the Middle Corridor with the Belt and Road Initiative.



It was agreed to operate the existing consultation and cooperation mechanisms between the two countries at regular intervals.



President Erdoğan reiterated Turkey's support for the "One China" policy and drew attention to the strategic dimension of relations between the two countries.



Additionally, the recent situation in Gaza, the war between Ukraine and Russia, potential joint steps for the development of Syria, and regional and global issues were discussed in the meeting.

It has been reported that more than 20 country leaders will attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit, which will be held in Tianjin, China, on August 31-September 1. Chinese Deputy Foreign Minister Liu Bin provided information about the organization of the SCO Summit at a press conference held in the capital Beijing. Deputy Minister Liu stated that Chinese President Xi Jinping will host the "SCO Council of Heads of State Meeting," which will be attended by member countries, as well as the "SCO Plus Meeting," which will include observer countries and dialogue partners, and noted that heads of state and government from more than 20 countries and leaders from more than 10 international organizations will participate in the summit.
