In the Ayvalık district of Balıkesir, during an irregular migration operation conducted by the Coast Guard North Aegean Group Command, a high-speed boat with a fiberglass hull, carrying 1 migrant smuggler organizer and 34 irregular migrants, collided with a Coast Guard boat off the coast of Ayvalık Badavut.

5 PEOPLE LOST THEIR LIVES

After the collision, 5 of the irregular migrants who fell into the sea lost their lives, and 1 migrant was severely injured and taken to the hospital. It was reported that search efforts are ongoing for 1 irregular migrant who is considered missing. An investigation has been initiated under the coordination of the Ayvalık Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the incident.
