A 16-year-old assailant who attacked a police station in Balçova, İzmir, with a shotgun and killed two police officers has been apprehended. İzmir Governor Elban stated, "The assailant is 16 years old, a high school student, and has no criminal record. He lives on the street where the police station is located. The weapon used in the attack belongs to his father, who purchased it 10 years ago."
A gun attack was carried out against the Salih İşgören Police Station in the Balçova district of İzmir. In the attack, 2 police officers were martyred, and 6 police officers were injured.
MINISTER YERLİKAYA: THE 16-YEAR-OLD ATTACKER HAS BEEN CAPTURED
Following the shocking incident, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that the 16-year-old attacker had been captured. Minister Yerlikaya stated, "A gun attack has been carried out against the İzmir Balçova Salih İşgören Police Station. Unfortunately, as a result of this heinous attack, our First-Class Police Chief, Police Chief Inspector Muhsin Aydemir, and our Police Officer Hasan Akın have been martyred, while our Police Officer Ömer Amilağ has been seriously injured, and our Police Officer Murat Dağlı has been lightly injured. I pray for God's mercy on our heroic martyrs; I wish a speedy recovery to the injured."

SECURITY MEASURES HAVE BEEN TAKEN IN THE AREA
While the police detained the attacker, extensive security measures were taken in the area. An investigation has been launched regarding the incident. Prosecutors conducted an examination in the area.
ONE OF THE MARTYRS IS A FIRST-CLASS POLICE CHIEF
The police officer Hasan Akın, who was standing at the door during the first shots, was martyred. Hearing the gunshots, First-Class Police Chief Muhsin Aydemir was martyred when he went downstairs in response to the gunfire. In the attack, one police officer was martyred, and 6 others were injured.
