The protesters, who demanded an end to the terrorist organization's occupation in the regions east of the Euphrates River, carried placards with statements in English and Arabic, including "PKK is the cause of instability in the region," "SDG is the Syrian branch of PKK," "We ask President Shara and the Syrian army to protect us from the terrorist organization PYD," and "We demand the end of the PKK's existence and the handover of the ISIS dossier to the Syrian government."

Eymen Derk, who participated in the protests, stated to AA correspondent that PKK/YPG is a separatist terrorist organization managed from Qandil. Derk said, "The tribal leaders who support the organization are actually collaborators betraying their people. The Arab and Kurdish fighters within this structure should separate from the organization as soon as possible. The organization is just a militia force pursuing division."

Journalist Gusun Avad also stated that the presence of PKK/YPG in the region means occupation and that the people are suffering greatly. Avad emphasized that PKK/YPG does not represent the Syrian people and that they want the international community to cut its support for this organization, saying, "The people of Jazira, Raqqa, Hasakah, and Deir ez-Zor are under the pressure of PKK. Many human rights violations are occurring here, such as the spread of drugs, the deterioration of the education system, and the imposition of Kurdish education by force."
