The team that wins in regular time will receive 3 points, the team that wins in penalties will receive 2 points, and the losing team will receive 1 point. It has been stated that this innovative rule will be applied for one year.
A notable application has been implemented due to the 100th anniversary of football in Japan. The league management has introduced a new scoring system that prevents matches from ending in a draw.
IF IT ENDS IN A DRAW AFTER 90 MINUTES, PENALTIES
According to the new application, if the matches are tied after 90 minutes, they will go directly to penalty shootouts. Thus, the classic notion of "draw" in the league has been eliminated.
HOW WILL THE NEW SCORING SYSTEM WORK?
According to the application, the team that wins in regular time will receive 3 points. In the event of a draw, the winning team in penalties will earn 2 points, while the losing team will receive 1 point. The team that loses in regular time will not earn any points.
The scoring system is determined as follows:
- Victory in regular time: 3 points
- Victory in penalties: 2 points
- Defeat in penalties: 1 point
- Defeat in regular time: 0 points
IT WILL BE VALID FOR 1 YEAR
The mentioned system will be applied not only in league matches but also in special tournaments. It has been announced that the new rule will be valid for 1 year.
