As the Assembly of Experts is expected to convene within the next 24 hours to elect a new religious leader in Iran, a concerning statement has come from Israel. The Israeli Army spokesperson suggested that the meeting would take place in the city of Qom and emphasized that they would not hesitate to target the newly elected Iranian leader and those attending the election session.

Israel has threatened that it may target officials attending the meeting where a new leader will be chosen to replace Iranian leader Ali Khamenei, who was killed in a US-Israel airstrike.

THEY EVEN KNOW THE CITY WHERE THEY WILL GATHER

Israeli Army Spokesman Avichay Adraee made a statement containing a threat of attack on his account on the US-based X social media platform. Adraee stated, "After the overthrow of the tyrant Khamenei, the Iranian terrorist regime is trying to regroup and select a new Supreme Leader. The Iranian Assembly of Experts, which has not convened for 40 years, is expected to meet soon in the city of Qom."

THOSE ATTENDING THE SESSION ARE ALSO TARGETED

The Israeli spokesperson noted that they would not hesitate to target the newly elected Iranian leader and those attending the election session.

IRAN'S STATEMENT

Hosseini Muzaferri, a member of the Iranian Assembly of Experts, made evaluations regarding the process of selecting a new religious leader. Muzaferri stated that the Assembly of Experts has not yet held a general session on this matter and that no election has been conducted for a new religious leader. Emphasizing the need to be cautious against various claims and predictions in the public domain, Muzaferri called for avoiding rumors. Muzaferri expressed, "We hope that the Assembly of Experts will convene within the next 24 hours to select the new religious leader."

TO BE ELECTED BY 88 MEMBERS

In Iran, the religious leader is considered the highest political and religious authority in the country. According to the Iranian Constitution, the religious leader is elected by the Assembly of Experts, which consists of 88 members. The members of the Assembly of Experts are determined through elections held by the public. Among the main duties of the Assembly of Experts is the authority to elect the religious leader, as well as the power to dismiss them when necessary. In cases where the religious leader passes away or is unable to continue their duties, the Assembly of Experts convenes to determine the country's new religious leader.

US-ISRAEL'S ATTACKS ON IRAN

Israel and the US launched a military attack on Iran on February 28 while negotiations were ongoing between the governments of Tehran and Washington.

Iran responded with attacks on targets it identified in several regional countries, including Qatar, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Bahrain, where US bases are located, in addition to Israel.

In the US-Israel attacks, many high-ranking officials, including Iranian leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, were killed.

Iran's Health Ministry Spokesman Hossein Kermanpur announced that 926 people lost their lives in the US-Israel attacks.
