Keyla was shot while joking around with her friend and her friend's boyfriend, Manuel Andrés Álava Lázaro, while they were drinking alcohol. The suspect, Lázaro, fled the scene and has since gone missing.

The incident occurred at Keyla's home in Guayaquil, Ecuador. Allegedly, Keyla was joking around while drinking with her friend and her friend's boyfriend, Manuel Andrés Álava Lázaro. During the live broadcast, Keyla was heard saying to the suspect, "Shoot me twice, but let me drink a little," followed by, "Shoot me in the head twice, I'll die in one go, I don't want to suffer." At that moment, her friend reacted by saying "no, no," but after Keyla shouted the suspect's name, two gunshots were heard.
The broadcast was abruptly cut off. Her friend immediately ran to inform Keyla's family. The suspect, Manuel Andrés Álava Lázaro, fled the scene on his motorcycle and has not yet been caught. Authorities stated that the suspect had a criminal record for theft four times before.
As Keyla lay on the ground severely injured, it was initially unclear whether the incident was a joke or real. Her family stated that they believed the young woman had a playful nature, which is why she said such things. It was also learned that the suspect had tears on his face and a tattoo of a rifle on his neck.
Keyla, the youngest of three sisters, was known on social media by the nickname "Chubby." In her last TikTok post, she said, "My goal is clear: to remain a good woman, to walk hand in hand with God, and to live a simple and humble life without harming anyone."
This tragic event was the second similar murder this year. On May 13, Mexican beauty influencer Valeria Márquez was also shot and killed during a live broadcast by attackers disguised as delivery men.
Ecuadorian police announced that a large-scale investigation into Keyla's murder is ongoing.
