The Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, announced that 58,246 signs have been removed as part of the simplification efforts regarding the speed limits on highways.

The Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, made a statement regarding the efforts to simplify the markings that determine the speed limit on highways across the country and to ensure uniformity. Uraloğlu reminded that the Presidential Circular on 'Uniformity in Speed Limiting Practices on Highways' was published in the Official Gazette on August 16, 2025. Minister Uraloğlu stated that within the framework of the work carried out under the protocol signed between the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure and the Ministry of Interior, traffic signs have been standardized in accordance with the principle of 'as few as possible but as many as necessary.'

ALL WORKS CARRIED OUT ON A 68 THOUSAND KILOMETER ROAD NETWORK HAVE BEEN COMPLETED

Uraloğlu said, "As a first priority, the works on a total of 14,590 kilometers of state and provincial roads with an average daily traffic of 10,000 and above have been completed as of August 31. In this first phase, arrangements were made for 19,061 signs. As of September 1, work was initiated by the Regional Directorates of the General Directorate of Highways on the remaining 53,989 kilometers of the road network. With the completion of the process, a total of 58,246 signs under the responsibility of the General Directorate of Highways were removed. Within the scope of these arrangements, the implementation of 35,247 speed signs, corresponding to 60% of the removed signs, was terminated. Thus, all works carried out on the 68,579-kilometer road network have been completed," he said.
