Osman Vesek (32), who lives in Antalya, installed a hidden camera in his home after noticing bruises on his 1-year-old daughter's body. After seeing footage of his wife I.M. (25) abusing their daughter, Vesek filed a criminal complaint with the prosecutor's office. Vesek requested a restraining order against his wife.
Osman Vesek, who married I.M. from Morocco in 2023, had a daughter from this marriage last year. When Vesek noticed the bruises on his daughter's body, he asked his wife about it, and she responded that the child often fell because she had just started walking. Concerned for some time due to warnings from those around him and the bruises on his daughter's body, Vesek installed a hidden camera in the house. After watching the footage, Osman Vesek saw that his daughter was subjected to violence by her mother. Vesek filed a criminal complaint with the prosecutor's office with the footage he had.
VIOLENCE FOOTAGE ON CAMERA
Describing his experiences, Osman Vesek said, "After seeing the bruises on my child's body and the warnings from people around me, I suspected that my wife was being violent. Whenever I asked, she constantly denied it. Therefore, I set up a hidden camera in the living room of the house. During the approximately one-week monitoring period, I came across three or four pieces of footage. In these videos, it is clearly seen that my wife slapped my child, hit her with a slipper, threw her onto the couch by holding her by the legs, and swung her around multiple times. After committing the violence, she sits down and continues to do her makeup or apply cream as if nothing happened," he said.
FIRST VIOLENCE STARTED AT 4 MONTHS OLD
Later, Vesek explained that he went to the Antalya Courthouse to file a complaint, saying, "I gave my statement at the Muratpaşa District Police Department. We submitted all necessary documents and evidence. We are currently waiting for the process. We spoke with the prosecutor, who said that the case is being followed and will be concluded as soon as possible. I am requesting that a protection and restraining order be issued immediately. I have reiterated this request. We will follow the process together. A similar situation occurred when my child was only 4 months old. While living with my family, there was a small argument between us. My wife became uncontrollably angry. While my grandmother was feeding the child, she harshly pulled the child from her lap and threw her onto the couch. The child hit the back of the couch and fell face down on the floor, starting to foam at the mouth. We called an ambulance, and the police came, but at that time, we could not take action because we had no evidence. In fact, my wife even accused me of slander," he said.
"MY CHILD'S BREATH WAS CUT OFF"
Expressing his deep sadness, Vesek stated, "What happened led me to install a camera in my home. I wanted to have evidence and proof, and I currently have that. I am eagerly waiting to see what kind of decision will be made with such clear evidence. I felt great pain when I watched the footage. I am trying to be patient and trust in justice. I believe it will conclude in the best way. My child is currently with her grandmother in Konya. She is doing well and has no issues. My biggest consolation is that there are no fractures or life-threatening injuries on her body. However, in one of the camera recordings, it is even seen that the child's breath was cut off. God forbid, much worse outcomes could have occurred," he expressed.
