A truck with the license plate 34 GLH 876, driven by Şah İsmail Topçuoğlu, collided with an electric bicycle driven by Muhammed Nedir (36) while heading from Ankara to Izmir. The truck then crashed into the barriers, a car with the license plate 07 VJN 72 driven by Ahmet Taş (54), and a police officer Osman Yanar (49) who was on duty at the Alaşehir Regional Traffic Control Station, before plunging off the Sarıpınar Bridge.

The truck fell on top of 2 parked public buses and a taxi. In the accident, Muhammed Nedir lost his life, while police officer Osman Yanar and truck driver Şah İsmail Topçuoğlu were injured. The injured were taken to the hospital by ambulances. It was reported that Yanar's condition remains serious.

An investigation has been initiated regarding the accident.
