Work is accelerating for the retirement arrangement for housewives, which is among the election promises of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The regulation concerns 10 million women and offers premium support and the right to early retirement. The right to early retirement will be granted based on the number of children and will bring forward the retirement age. According to backstage discussions, there is a strong possibility that the regulation will be completed and come into effect in the last quarter of 2027.

President Erdoğan's promises during the election period regarding retirement arrangements for housewives are gaining momentum. The regulation, which concerns 10 million women, will offer early retirement opportunities along with premium support and the right to wear and tear.
HOUSEWIVES ARE WAITING FOR GOOD NEWS
After the statements of the Minister of Labor and Social Security, Vedat Işıkhan, who previously provided a date for early retirement for Bağ-Kur tradesmen, attention has turned to housewives.
IT AFFECTS 10 MILLION WOMEN
According to TÜİK data, women make up 49.99% of Turkey's population. The number of women not included in the workforce is 21 million. The majority of those who do not have retirement due to being occupied with household chores are women. In this context, it is anticipated that more than 9 million housewives will benefit from the regulation.
Former SGK Chief Inspector İsa Karakaş stated in his article in Türkiye Newspaper that it is highly likely that the regulation will be completed and come into effect in the last quarter of 2027.
PREMIUM SUPPORT FROM THE STATE
Sharing backstage information, Karakaş said that with the upcoming regulation, state support will be provided for the premiums paid by housewives.
Reminding that the minimum premium amount that needs to be paid to SGK every month is 8,321.76 TL, Karakaş expressed that 2,774 TL of this amount will be covered by the state. Thus, he stated that housewives would gain an advantage of over 33,000 TL annually.
WEAR AND TEAR RIGHT BASED ON THE NUMBER OF CHILDREN
With the regulation, a "wear and tear right" will also be granted based on the number of children. Karakaş said, "It is on the agenda to grant wear and tear rights at rates of 30%, 60%, and 90% based on the number of children. However, it is not expected that the upper limit will exceed 90%."
For example, if a mother with 3 children benefits from the 90% wear and tear right, the 3,600 premium days she paid for 10 years will be counted as 4,500 days. This will bring forward her retirement age. A mother who would normally retire at the age of 58 will be able to retire 3 years earlier thanks to the regulation.
