A passenger preparing to fly from Miami, USA, to London was detained after 65 kilograms of drugs were found in their luggage. The passenger was identified as 22-year-old Begüm Mülazımoğlu, a Turkish citizen. Mülazımoğlu was released on a $10,000 bail and will be tried on charges of "drug trafficking."

THE SMELL EMANATING FROM THE SUITCASE RAISED SUSPICIONS

According to CBS News, the incident occurred on the evening of December 22, Monday. U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials reported the situation to the Miami-Dade Police Narcotics Unit after detecting a strong odor emanating from two cabin suitcases.

TRACKING DEVICE FOUND IN THE SUITCASES

Authorities stated that during the search of the suitcases, 60 packages of vacuum-sealed drugs were seized, with a total weight of approximately 65 kilograms (130 pounds). It was also noted that both suitcases contained Apple AirTag tracking devices.

Officials speaking to CBS News indicated that the suitcases belonged to 22-year-old Turkish citizen Begüm Mulazimoğlu, who was set to travel to England on a Virgin Atlantic flight.

A HEAVY PENALTY CASE HAS BEEN FILED

A search of the suspect revealed 330 U.S. dollars and 530 British pounds. Mulazimoğlu was detained and sent to prison after processing.

PAID BAIL AND WAS RELEASED

According to court records, a heavy penalty case was filed against Mulazimoğlu for the charge of trafficking 130 pounds of marijuana. It was noted that the prosecution requested a bail of 15,000 dollars, while the court set the bail at 10,000 dollars. The suspect was released after paying the bail amount.

The next hearing of the case is scheduled to take place on February 20.
