SGK expert Özgür Erdursun stated that if SSK and Bağ-Kur members postpone their retirement applications until 2026, they will experience an approximate 5% loss in their pensions. He also noted that the timing of the application does not make a difference for the Retirement Fund.

Social Security Expert Özgür Erdursun answered the question that millions of retirees are curious about: "When should a petition be submitted?" Erdursun stated that especially those insured under SSK (4A) and Bağ-Kur (4B) should submit their petitions without waiting for the New Year.

5% PENSION LOSS RISK

Erdursun explained that those who do not apply by December 31, 2025, will experience an approximate 5% loss in their pensions when they submit their petitions in 2026. Therefore, he emphasized that the timing of the petition is critical.

NO DIFFERENCE IN RETIREMENT FUND

The expert noted that there is no difference in terms of pension when submitting a retirement petition under the Retirement Fund (4C) between the end of the year and the New Year.

BAĞ-KUR REINSTATEMENT AND TRANSITION TO SSK

Erdursun also evaluated different paths for retirement.

  • Bağ-Kur reinstatement: Retirement rights can be obtained within 202 days with a payment of approximately 1.8 million TL, but the pension remains relatively low.
  • Transition to SSK: Retirement can be achieved with a payment of approximately 420 thousand TL and a working condition of 4 years and 6 months. This method offers the possibility of retirement at a lower cost but over a longer period.

WHICH IS MORE ADVANTAGEOUS?

Erdursun stated that those who want quick retirement and can make high payments may benefit from the Bağ-Kur reinstatement, while for those who prefer retirement at a lower cost but over a longer period, transitioning to SSK would be more suitable.
