U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio claimed that the decisions of some Western countries to recognize Palestine would create significant problems. Rubio stated, "We anticipated this would happen. We warned everyone that this would occur. Yet, some of these individuals decided to pursue an illusion."

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio accused Western countries preparing to recognize Palestine, arguing that this step would "create major problems."

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio made statements regarding the Palestinian agenda during a joint press conference with Ecuadorian Foreign Minister Gabriela Sommerfeld in the capital of Ecuador, Quito.

"WILL CAUSE MAJOR PROBLEMS"

Secretary of State Rubio warned European allies that recognizing the State of Palestine would "cause major problems."

AVOIDED THE WEST BANK QUESTION

When asked about Israel's steps to annex the occupied West Bank, the U.S. Secretary dodged the question, saying, "What you see regarding the West Bank and annexation is not the final things. This is a topic discussed among certain elements of Israeli politics. I do not wish to comment on this today."

Later, addressing countries like France, England, Canada, and Australia that announced they would recognize Palestine, Rubio stated that they were not pleased with these decisions.

Rubio said, "We anticipated this would happen. We warned everyone that this would occur. Yet, some of these individuals decided to pursue an imaginary thing."

WHAT HAD HAPPENED?

Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich had announced a few days ago that they planned to annex 82% of the occupied West Bank to prevent the establishment of a Palestinian State.

Some reports in the U.S. media claimed that Rubio had stated he would not oppose Israel's possible annexation and would not seek to prevent it.
