Abdullah Öpöz, who was waiting on the roof to protect his animals in Aydın, became trapped in his location due to the flooding caused by heavy rains affecting the city. After struggling for survival on the roof for about a week, Öpöz was noticed by the village head, who informed the teams. As a result of the teams' intervention by helicopter, Öpöz was rescued.
Abdullah Öpöz, who was waiting on the roof to protect his animals in the Kasaplar area of the Koçarlı district of Aydın, became trapped due to the rapid rise in the water level of the Büyük Menderes River and the flooding that occurred.
THE NEIGHBORHOOD HEADMAN NOTICED
Mustafa Turgan, the headman of Bıyıklı Neighborhood, who was inspecting the area, noticed that Öpöz was trapped on the roof. The headman immediately reported the situation to AFAD and gendarmerie teams, and teams were dispatched to the area upon his notification.
RESCUED WITH A MOVIE-LIKE OPERATION
Since ground access was not possible, the rescue operation was carried out from the air. Öpöz, who was picked up from his location by a helicopter belonging to the Aydın Gendarmerie Command directed to the scene, was transferred to the hospital for a health check. It was learned that the citizen's health condition was good.
TRAPPED ON THE ROOF FOR A WEEK
It was learned that Öpöz, whose surroundings were completely covered with water, could not find a way to request help and fought for survival on the roof for about a week.
