THE CITIZEN'S REACTION WAS EXPRESSED IN MKYK
Following the legislative change that imposed restrictive rules on hobby gardens, the regulation published on April 4, 2026, also fueled the discussions. The reactions to the regulation, which includes the implementation of demolition decisions for existing structures in gardens and the provision of electricity and water services to newly created ones, were addressed in the AK Party Central Decision and Administration Board (MKYK) meeting chaired by Erdoğan.
"IT PUTS THE CITIZEN AND THE PARTY AT ODDS"
Some MKYK members expressed the view that the mentioned law and regulation are perceived as meaning "all structures built so far will be demolished," which puts the citizens at odds with the party. Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Yumaklı also detailed the damage that hobby gardens cause to agricultural lands.
