The 11th President of Turkey, Abdullah Gül, who made evaluations regarding the agenda, stated, "The world experienced a stable period for ten years after the year 2000, but in recent years, it is going through a very dangerous time that is more fragile than ever, more lawless than ever, and where international organizations and systems have collapsed like never before."
11th President Abdullah Gül attended the graduation ceremony of the university named after him in Kayseri.
"THE WORLD IS GOING THROUGH A PERIOD MORE DANGEROUS THAN EVER BEFORE"
In his speech here, Gül, who made evaluations regarding current issues, stated, "The world experienced a stable period for 10 years after the year 2000, but in recent years it is going through a very dangerous period, more fragile than ever, more lawless than ever, and a period in which international organizations and systems have collapsed."
"PEOPLE IN PALESTINE ARE DYING FOR A PIECE OF BREAD AND A SIP OF WATER"
Pointing out that on one side the Russia-Ukraine war continues and on the other side a great genocide is taking place in Palestine, Gül continued his words as follows: "In Palestine, people are no longer killed by bombs. This continues, but in addition, women, children, and elderly people are dying for a piece of bread and a sip of water. I regret to say that this is not sufficiently covered by the Turkish press. Every day, the headlines of newspapers in America and England show how those children are left as mere skin and bones, and how Israel is committing genocide there. I separate those who govern states, but the conscience of societies is rising. Civil society organizations are rising. Thinkers and journalists are rising. Conscientious politicians are rising and demanding an end to this brutality."
"A GREAT SHAME FOR THE WORLD"
Gül stated, "Last week marked the anniversary of how nearly 10,000 people were left to starve and died as mere skin and bones in Srebrenica 30 years ago. I once attended those meetings and experienced that pain. Very important people in the world made statements and said, 'This should never happen again, it should not be repeated, and it should not happen again. Those who did this were punished, but this is not enough.' On one hand, there are people saying this, and on the other hand, unfortunately, they have started to pass over the live broadcasts of these massacres with silence and rhetoric. This is distressing and a great shame for the world," he expressed.
Moreover, Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Memduh Büyükkılıç and Talas Mayor Mustafa Yalçın also attended the ceremony.
