Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı made important statements regarding forest fires. Speaking in the fire-affected area in Karabük, Yumaklı also announced the number of fires that broke out during the day.
"73 FIRES BROKE OUT"
Yumaklı announced that a total of 73 fires broke out across the country today. Minister Yumaklı also provided information about the current status of the fires.
"THE FIRE WHERE WE LOST MARTYRS IS UNDER CONTROL"
Yumaklı stated that the forest fire in Eskişehir, where 5 forest workers and 5 AKUT volunteers were martyred, has been brought under control. In his statement, the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry said, "We have brought the Eskişehir fire, where we lost martyrs, under control as of now."
Yumaklı, who said, "The fires in Karabük are ongoing, and interventions continue with 2 planes and 19 helicopters," added, "Due to the large area and the presence of canyons, the fires seem to be challenging us. Unstable winds are making our work difficult here. Our interventions in Antalya are ongoing. The fire in Aksu Kurşunlu had reached the ancient city, but there was no damage. Our intervention in the ongoing fire in Manisa will continue after dark," he stated.
HE POINTED TO TOMORROW: TEMPERATURES WILL RISE BY 10 DEGREES
The Minister of Agriculture and Forestry also pointed to tomorrow, saying, "This is actually a war; we are in a state of war with the fires. We are talking about an enemy that gains strength from unyielding heat. The all-time temperature record was broken today. It was stated that all air temperatures will rise by 10 degrees starting tomorrow. We will be fighting against a stronger enemy from tomorrow," he said.
CALL TO CITIZENS
Yumaklı also called on citizens, saying, "There is a duty for our 86 million citizens. We cannot win this struggle alone. Do not light fires in open areas. I thank all our citizens for their common sense."

During the intervention in the forest fire that started in the Seyitgazi district of Eskişehir and reached near the Sarıcaova village of İhsaniye district in Afyonkarahisar, 5 forest workers and 5 AKUT members were martyred.
