The Advertising Board of the Ministry of Trade has decided to impose access restrictions on 15 social media accounts with a high number of followers that were found to be advertising illegal betting and gambling and directing consumers to various illegal sites.

In a statement made by the Ministry of Trade, it was noted that the illegal betting and gambling advertisements continued to be one of the main agenda items in the meeting held by the Advertising Board on January 13.

ACCESS RESTRICTION ON 15 ACCOUNTS

In the statement providing information about the evaluations made by the Advertising Board, it was stated, "A decision was made to implement access restriction measures on 15 social media accounts with a high number of followers that were identified as advertising illegal betting and gambling and directing consumers to various illegal sites. Additionally, it was decided to make the necessary applications to the relevant institutions to initiate judicial investigation processes regarding these social media accounts and the subjects of illegal betting and gambling sites."

ACCESS RESTRICTION ON WEBSITES ADVERTISING FORTUNE TELLERS AND MEDIUMS

The statement highlighted that another important topic on the agenda of the Advertising Board was the advertising and promotional activities related to the services offered by fortune tellers, mediums, and astrologers, stating, "In this context, a decision was made to implement access restriction measures on 26 websites identified as engaging in advertising activities related to services provided by fortune tellers, mediums, astrologers, and similar entities."

"INSPECTIONS WILL CONTINUE UNINTERRUPTED"

The statement emphasized that as the Ministry, efforts and inspections will continue uninterrupted to protect consumer rights, to combat illegal advertising activities effectively and decisively, to keep the society, especially the younger generation, away from such harmful effects, and to prevent the exploitation of consumers' fears and superstitions.
