While tensions between the US and Iran continue, US President Donald Trump imposed a 25% additional tariff on all countries that trade with Iran.
While the military tension between Iran and the USA continues to raise security concerns in the countries of the region, the nuclear talks that were interrupted after the attacks of Israel and the USA on Iran in June 2025 have resumed in Oman.
Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi described his contacts as a "good start," while Oman's Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al-Busaidi stated that the meeting was "beneficial in clarifying the thoughts of both Iran and America and identifying potential areas for progress."
DECISION ON ADDITIONAL TAX AFTER THE TALKS
While no statement has yet been made by the USA regarding the meeting, a series of moves came from the USA. President Donald Trump imposed a 25% additional customs duty on all countries trading with Iran.
DECISION ON SANCTIONS AGAINST 15 ORGANIZATIONS AND 14 VESSELS CONNECTED TO IRAN'S OIL TRADE
On the other hand, the US Department of State announced that various organizations and vessels related to the trade of Iranian oil and petroleum products have been added to the sanctions list. In the statement from the Department of State, it was stated, "The Department is imposing sanctions on 15 organizations and 14 'shadow fleet' vessels connected to the illegal trade of Iranian oil, petroleum, and petrochemical products.
These targets have been used to finance the regime's malicious activities. Instead of investing in the welfare of its own people and the crumbling infrastructure, the Iranian regime continues to finance destabilizing activities worldwide and to increase repression within the country," the statement said.
TRUMP HAD THREATENED BEFORE THE SUMMIT
Before the critical summit in Oman, President Donald Trump made another threat towards Tehran, stating that Tehran was negotiating with them because it did not want to be hit by Washington. In his speech at the traditionally held National Prayer Breakfast, Trump explained that they were strengthening the American military further, saying, "We are negotiating with Iran. They are negotiating because they do not want to be hit. They do not want us to hit. We showed our bombers to Iran," he stated.
