Located in the Negev Desert, approximately 13 kilometers southeast of the city of Dimona, the facility officially known as the Negev Nuclear Research Center is also referred to as the Dimona Nuclear Reactor.
It is known that the name of the facility was changed to Shimon Peres Negev Nuclear Research Center after the death of former President Shimon Peres, one of the architects of Israel's nuclear program. This facility is considered the center of Israel's nuclear weapons program.
