The Israeli government approved the ceasefire agreement it reached with Hamas in Egypt. Following the agreement coming into effect today at 12:00 PM, the Israeli army began its partial withdrawal, and Gazans started to return to their homes.
After months of ongoing conflicts in Gaza, a ceasefire has been achieved. As a result of negotiations held in Egypt on October 8, both Israel and Hamas agreed to the deal. Following the agreement, which was also accepted by the Israeli cabinet, the journey home for Gazans began today at 12:00 PM.
THEY ARE PULLING BACK FROM OCCUPIED AREAS
As part of the agreement, the Israeli army has started to pull back from some of the areas it occupied in Gaza to "designated deployment lines." The first images from the region show that a large number of tanks and armored vehicles have left Gaza.
PALESTINIANS ARE RETURNING HOME
With the ceasefire coming into effect, Palestinians who were previously forcibly displaced to southern Gaza by Israel have started to return to their homes. Images from the region show thousands of people moving southward on foot from North Gaza.
TWO COUNTRIES PLAYED A CRUCIAL ROLE
The diplomatic efforts of Egypt and Turkey played a decisive role in achieving the ceasefire. The resumption of humanitarian aid passage in the region and ensuring the safe return of displaced civilians are among the primary items of the agreement.
