It has been revealed that the drunk driver who caused the death of a 73-year-old woman in Bursa by hitting her drank Turkish coffee after the fatal accident. The deceased woman's son said, "The alcohol level was lower due to the coffee. My mother passed away, and he was not arrested. We want justice."
A fatal accident occurred on March 7 at around 09:00 in the Muradiye neighborhood of the Osmangazi district in Bursa. Gönül Eriş (73), who wanted to cross the road to get bread from her home, was hit by a car driven by Burçin Ş. (34). Gönül Eriş, who was injured and taken to the hospital by ambulance, passed away.
DRANK COFFEE AFTER THE ACCIDENT In the control conducted by the police teams after the incident, it was determined that the driver Burçin Ş. had a blood alcohol level of 0.71 promille. The driver, who objected to the result and was sent to the hospital, was found to have a blood alcohol level of 0.67 promille in the test conducted there. After the accident, Burçin Ş., who asked for coffee from the people around and drank the Turkish coffee brought by the nearby tea house operator, was placed under house arrest. The accident was captured by the security camera of a business.
Gönül Eriş "DID NOT KILL ONE PERSON, DESTROYED A FAMILY" While the investigation regarding the accident is ongoing, Gönül Eriş's son, Serkan Eriş, stated, "My mother did not return when she went out to get bread. I learned about the accident when the police called me. We came to the scene for the camera recordings. We saw that a car hit her. The female driver was drunk and had coffee there. Her alcohol level was lower because of the coffee she drank. My mother passed away. She was not arrested. We want justice. My mother was also taking care of my father. She was going to get bread and was returning. She did not kill one person, she destroyed a family," he said.
"I DID NOT SEE THE ACCIDENT, I GAVE COFFEE WHEN SOMEONE ASKED" Ekrem Selvi, the tea house operator who brought the Turkish coffee requested by the intoxicated driver at the scene, said, "I did not see the accident. One person came. He asked me for coffee to take to the accident site. I took it. The woman who caused the accident was standing. She drank the coffee. They asked me for Turkish coffee, so I brought it to the woman," he said.
