After the attack in which 3 people were killed at the Bursa Courthouse, 10 individuals who were taken into custody have been sent to the courthouse.

During the hearing at the Bursa Courthouse, it was reported that detained defendants Mertcan Akça (26) and his father Köksal Akça (54) were killed, and Gendarmerie Specialist Sergeant Nurettin Yaşar (26) was martyred following the attack, after which 10 people who were taken into custody were brought to the courthouse.

During the second hearing of the case regarding the armed attack that took place on September 23, 2023, at an entertainment venue in a shopping center in the Odunluk neighborhood of the Nilüfer district, an armed attack was carried out. Kemal Ergün (52), the father of Tolga Ergün (21), who was disabled after an armed fight in 2023, fired 7-8 shots at the detained defendants Mertcan Akça and his father Köksal Akça, cursing them with a gun he pulled out from under his son's wheelchair.

While panic and fear spread in the courtroom, which had about 30 people, lawyers and journalists following the hearing tried to protect themselves from the bullets by hiding under the chairs. The defendant father and son, who were hit by the bullets, collapsed to the ground in a pool of blood.

ATTACKER NEUTRALIZED

The attacker, Kemal Ergün, was neutralized and taken into custody, while health teams determined that detained defendants Mertcan Akça and his father Köksal Akça had lost their lives during the examination. Gendarmerie Specialist Sergeant Nurettin Yaşar, who was seriously injured by the bullets, and Gendarmerie Specialist Sergeant Uğur Bulut were taken to Yüksek İhtisas Training and Research Hospital and Çekirge State Hospital for treatment. After the attack, the courthouse was evacuated, and the hearings were postponed.

The funerals of Mertcan Akça and his father Köksal Akça, who lost their lives in the attack, were buried in Hamitler Cemetery in the Yıldırım district, while Gendarmerie Specialist Sergeant Nurettin Yaşar, who was injured in the attack and later martyred in the hospital where he was treated, was laid to rest in his hometown of Adana.

10 PEOPLE TAKEN INTO CUSTODY

After the attack, all security camera footage in the courthouse was examined. Teams from the Homicide Bureau of the Provincial Police Department's Public Security Branch took 10 people into custody, including Kemal Ergün, the perpetrator of the attack, and some police officers on duty at the courthouse. The investigation revealed that the gun used by Kemal Ergün in the incident had been converted from a blank-firing gun.

The 10 suspects, whose procedures at the police station were completed, were brought to the courthouse today. While extensive security measures were taken around the courthouse, the suspects' interrogations at the prosecutor's office are ongoing.
