The visit of former Interior and Justice Minister Mehmet Ağar to Mustafa Çiftçi, who took the seat of the Ministry of Interior, brought the "Susurluk accident" back to the agenda. Ağar responded to the criticisms on this issue as follows: "What happened in Susurluk? They have been chasing a dream for 30 years called the Susurluk incident. I am the only man who has accounted for everything to the fullest. And I also went to prison for a year thanks to the FETÖ members. After I got out of prison, the Court of Cassation eliminated all the reasons and consequences."
After the visit of former Interior and Justice Minister Mehmet Ağar to Mustafa Çiftçi, who was appointed as the Minister of Interior, the "Susurluk Incident" was brought back to the agenda.
"WHAT HAPPENED IN SUSURLUK?"
Responding to questions from Saygı Öztürk of Sözcü Newspaper regarding the issue, Ağar said, "What happened in Susurluk? I am the person who does not need to go to the Supreme Court independently of the parliamentary investigation in Turkey. Thanks to whom? Thanks to Prime Minister Bülent Ecevit. All members of the Welfare Party, including its Chairman Necmettin Erbakan, voted in my favor.

Everything about me, from 7 to 70, was scrutinized in the Investigation Commission established in the Parliament. It was not like a research commission; it was an investigation commission. It had all kinds of research authority. After the work was completed, Prime Minister Bülent Ecevit said regarding the result, next to Deputy Prime Minister Hüsamettin Özkan, 'This result is as halal as your mother's milk.' Ecevit said, 'We asked you from the National Intelligence Organization, the General Staff. We investigated everywhere, from the Ministry of Finance to land registry offices, banks. It is a halal result as your mother's milk, even down to your third-degree relatives.' Then Ecevit added, 'Let me tell you something you don't know. Your grandfather was also the founder of the National Forces in Elazığ. Is there anything else left to say to us?'
