Ahmet Türk will also participate in the discussions that the DEM Party will hold in the Parliament.

After the Ministry of Justice granted permission, a historic meeting took place on İmralı Island. DEM Party Istanbul MP Sırrı Süreyya Önder and Van MP Pervin Buldan visited İmralı Island early yesterday morning to meet with PKK terrorist organization leader Abdullah Öcalan. The delegation stated that a second meeting would take place on İmralı. After hours of discussions, the DEM Party announced Öcalan's statement.

ANOTHER STATEMENT FROM PERVİN BULDAN

DEM Party's Pervin Buldan made a new statement. Speaking to Hilal Köylü from Serbestiyet, Buldan explained the details of the meetings they will hold with political parties in the Parliament. Buldan indicated that Ahmet Türk would likely also be present in the discussions at the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM). Ahmet Türk had been removed from his position as the Mayor of Mardin after the Ministry of Interior appointed a trustee.

AHMET TÜRK WILL ALSO BE PRESENT IN THE MEETINGS AT TBMM

In her statement, Buldan said: "Now we will meet with the parties in the Parliament, we will request appointments from everyone. We will hold our meetings at the level of party leaders. We will conduct these meetings together with Sırrı Süreyya Önder, but it is highly likely that Ahmet Türk will also join our delegation. We will start requesting appointments from the parties the day after New Year's."

(The resolution process meetings we held between 2013-2015) We should not waste another period. We all need to learn lessons from that process. This period should be evaluated well. I am always hopeful about peace. Peace will inevitably come to these lands, but I think we are in the time when we are closest to peace. We had a very positive and good meeting on İmralı. Yes, this is the era of peace and democracy." Buldan also stated that there is still no date set for Abdullah Öcalan to call on the PKK to lay down arms.

HERE IS THE 7-POINT MESSAGE OF THE TERRORIST LEADER

In the statement regarding the DEM Party's meeting in İmralı, the 7-point messages of terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan were included. Here is that statement: "We had a comprehensive meeting with Mr. Abdullah Öcalan on December 28, 2024, in İmralı. His health is good, and his morale was quite high. His evaluations aimed at finding a permanent solution to the Kurdish issue were of vital importance.

During the meeting, which evaluated the recent developments in the Middle East and Turkey, Mr. Öcalan presented positive solution proposals against the imposed dark future scenarios. His thoughts and general approach are as follows:

- Strengthening Turkish-Kurdish brotherhood is not only a historical responsibility but has also gained decisive importance and urgency for all peoples.

- For the success of the process, it is essential that all political circles in Turkey take the initiative without getting caught up in narrow and temporary calculations, act constructively, and provide positive contributions. One of the most important grounds for these contributions will undoubtedly be the TBMM.

- The events in Gaza and Syria have shown that the solution to this problem, which is being attempted to be gangrened through external interventions, can no longer be postponed. To achieve success with a work proportional to its seriousness, the contributions and suggestions of the opposition are valuable.

- I also have the necessary competence and determination to positively contribute to the new paradigm empowered by Mr. Bahçeli and Mr. Erdoğan.

- The delegation will share this approach of mine with both the state and political circles. In light of these, I am ready to take the necessary positive step and make the call.

- All these efforts will elevate the country to the level it deserves and will also serve as a very valuable guide for a democratic transformation.

- This is the era of peace, democracy, and brotherhood for Turkey and the region."

WHAT HAPPENED?

Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç had announced that they responded positively to the DEM Party's request for a meeting. Minister Tunç also stated that DEM Party Istanbul MP Sırrı Süreyya Önder and Van MP Pervin Buldan would be part of the delegation going to İmralı. Önder said, "The timing of the visit will be determined based on weather conditions. We are waiting for news. We have not yet received any information regarding the date. Most likely, we will go from Mudanya," he said.

HOW DID THE PROCESS DEVELOP?

The process began with the call made by MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli on October 22. In his statement at the MHP's TBMM Group Meeting, MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli said, "If the isolation of the terrorist leader is lifted, let him come and speak at the TBMM DEM Party Group Meeting, proclaim that terrorism has completely ended and that the organization has been dissolved. If he shows this determination and resolve, let the legal regulation regarding the use of the 'right to hope' be made, and let him benefit from it to the fullest."

Shortly after this statement, Bahçeli called for permission to be granted to the DEM Party delegation to go to İmralı. On November 26, the DEM Party applied to the Ministry of Justice to hold a meeting with terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan in İmralı. On December 9, Bahçeli applauded DEM Party Co-Chair Tuncer Bakırhan after his speech calling for a new beginning during the budget discussions at the TBMM.

In his speech, Bakırhan stated, "In 2025, in the 103rd year of the Republic, we can make a new beginning. This Parliament has the chance to take on the role of founding the Democratic Republic. Let this Parliament have the honor of creating a country where 85 million will feel they belong."
