AK Party Secretary General and İzmir Deputy Eyyüp Kadir İnan spoke at the Vefa Iftar program organized by the AK Party Antalya Provincial Presidency. Inan emphasized important messages regarding the month of Ramadan, freedom of worship in the public sphere, and discussions on secularism. Reminding of the practices of February 28, he stated, "You will not be able to bring those days back."
AK Party Secretary General and İzmir Deputy Eyyüp Kadir İnan met with party members at the Vefa Iftar program organized by the AK Party Antalya Provincial Presidency. Speaking at the event, which saw a large turnout, İnan delivered strong messages particularly regarding the month of Ramadan, freedom of worship in the public sphere, and discussions on secularism.
"WE WILL LIVE THE MONTH OF RAMADAN IN THE PUBLIC SPHERE. IF YOU HAVE THE POWER, STOP US."
In the most striking part of his speech, İnan addressed the ongoing discussions surrounding the month of Ramadan, stating: "Let me say what I will say at the end at the beginning: We will live the month of Ramadan in the public sphere. We will not live it secretly and hesitantly as you imagine. We will live it in our workplaces. We will live it in our schools. We will live it in our neighborhoods. You will not be able to prevent this.
Do not even dream about it. Do not write or sign useless declarations, do not tire yourself. This nation is a dignified nation. This nation is an honorable and proud nation. Will it ask you how to perform its worship? Our children will recite and listen to the most beautiful hymns. This homeland, these lands have been honored with Islam for 1500 years. This country is a Muslim country. This nation is a Muslim nation. Our differences are also our riches."
İnan recalled past practices from headscarf bans to the coefficient application, from the February 28 process to party closure cases, and sent a message saying, "You will not be able to bring those days back."
"THE DAYS WHEN YOU SET AGE LIMITS FOR QURAN COURSES ARE NOT THE SAME AS THOSE FEBRUARY 28 DAYS"
Referring to the February 28 process in his speech, İnan stated: "The days when you set age limits for Quran courses are not the same as those February 28 days. They are not the same as the days when you made our headscarf-wearing sisters cry at university gates. You will not be able to bring those days back with your so-called declarations and marches. Now our children do not fit in the mosques. Let me also say this. Just as we lived the month of Ramadan, we will celebrate the Eid al-Fitr with the same enthusiasm. After that, we will also celebrate the Eid al-Adha. Look, I am speaking these as the AK Party Secretary General. Go ahead and file a case to close the party. Didn't you do it in the past? Didn't you close it?"
İnan also drew attention to developments in the defense industry, saying, "Those you called reactionaries back then are now selling the latest technology drones to the world. Whether you burst or explode, they are selling."
"WHILE MAKING EVERY KIND OF DEVIANCE VISIBLE IN THE PUBLIC SPHERE, YOUR DISCOMFORT WITH MUSLIMS' IFTAR TABLE IS NOT CALLED SECULARISM"
Attacking the opposition through discussions on secularism, İnan made the following assessment: "While making every kind of marginal ideology and deviance visible in the public sphere, your discomfort with Muslims' iftar table is not called secularism. We will not allow your understanding of oppression that sees the faith of the nation as a threat and considers its own cultural codes as the only truth."
AK Party Secretary General and İzmir Deputy Eyyüp Kadir İnan also made important statements regarding the 2028 elections. Emphasizing that the People's Alliance continues on its path with determination, İnan stated that the organizations and members have shown a strong will regarding President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's candidacy.
İnan said, "As the People's Alliance, we are united with our 11 million members from Edirne to Hakkâri for the candidacy of our President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. We will overcome all obstacles and barricades placed before us one by one to nominate him again with the will of our nation," he said.
Stating that the AK Party Antalya organization will continue to walk towards the goals of the Turkey Century with its strong structure, İnan concluded his speech amid loud applause.
