LANDING AIRCRAFT HELD ON THE RUNWAY, ENTIRE TERMINAL EVACUATED
The Kansas City Aviation Department announced that officials from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) are investigating a potential "threat" at Kansas City International Airport. Airport spokesperson Jackson Overstreet stated in a statement to the Associated Press that the threat was reported at 11:50 local time, and at that point, the entire terminal was evacuated, with landing aircraft held on the runway.
"PEOPLE RAN OUT QUICKLY"
A passenger speaking to local media said, "Suddenly an airport employee said 'evacuate immediately,' and people quickly got up and ran out of there."
2 THOUSAND PEOPLE EVACUATED
It was reported that approximately 2,000 people were evacuated from the terminal during the evacuation. About 2 hours after the evacuation, the terminals were reopened, but investigation teams continued their searches in the parking lots.
