The Kansas City Aviation Department announced that officials from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) are investigating a potential "threat" at Kansas City International Airport. Airport spokesperson Jackson Overstreet stated in a statement to the Associated Press that the threat was reported at 11:50 local time, and at that point, the entire terminal was evacuated, with landing aircraft held on the runway.

A passenger speaking to local media said, "Suddenly an airport employee said 'evacuate immediately,' and people quickly got up and ran out of there."
