Due to a warning strike at Berlin Brandenburg Airport on March 18, passenger traffic will come to a complete halt. It has been announced that all passenger flights scheduled for Wednesday have been suspended due to the strike.

It was reported that passenger traffic would be completely halted at Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) in Germany due to a warning strike scheduled for March 18.

In a statement made by the airport, it was reminded that the United Services Union (Ver.di) called for a full-day warning strike on Wednesday, March 18, for approximately 2,000 personnel working at BER.

ALL FLIGHTS SUSPENDED

The statement indicated that all passenger flights planned for Wednesday were suspended due to the strike, and that the airport management informed airlines, ground services, security companies, and businesses in the region about the situation.

The statement advised passengers to contact the relevant companies for reservations and alternative travel options. It is expected that a total of 445 departures and arrivals, affecting approximately 57,000 passengers, will be impacted by the strike decision.

1% CRISIS IN NEGOTIATIONS

Ver.di described the employer's proposal, which foresees only a 1% annual increase until the end of 2028, as "an unserious provocation" and called for a work stoppage for approximately 2,000 employees.

The union is demanding a 6% increase or at least a monthly raise of 250 euros for employees. The action to be held on March 18 will be the first warning strike during the current wage negotiation period.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On the other hand, due to the wave of strikes at Lufthansa in recent weeks, domestic flights in major hubs such as Frankfurt and Munich had come to a standstill.
