Yalova Mayor Mehmet Gürel has filed a legal complaint against 10 individuals, including Deputy Mayor Hatice Öncü Yürekkorkutan, over allegations of public harm and irregularities in tenders. A decision was made to conduct an expert examination to clarify the allegations.
Yalova Mayor Mehmet Gürel has taken legal action against a senior figure within his own administration. Nine individuals, including Deputy Mayor Hatice Öncü Yürekkorkutan, appeared before the Yalova 6th Criminal Court of First Instance on charges of public damage and tender irregularities.
ALLEGATIONS OF PUBLIC DAMAGE AND TENDER IRREGULARITIES
In the application made by Yalova Municipality, it was claimed that public resources were used in violation of regulations in some municipal transactions and that irregular practices were carried out in the tender processes. The municipality filed a lawsuit against those responsible, arguing that the said transactions caused public damage.
THE CASE IS BEING HEARD AT YALOVA COURT
The lawsuit has begun to be heard at the Yalova 6th Criminal Court of First Instance. During the first hearing, the identities of the defendants were established, and it was decided to examine the documents and evidence in the case file.
EXPERT REPORT IS AWAITED
The court panel ruled that an expert examination should be conducted to clarify the allegations. A detailed report on the documents related to the tender processes and municipal expenditures is expected.
MUNICIPALITY IS THE COMPLAINANT
Yalova Municipality is participating in the case as the complainant. The municipal administration emphasized that it is essential for public resources to be used transparently, accountably, and in accordance with regulations.
