The minimum wage, which will be effective in 2026, has been set at a net amount of 28,075 TL with a 27% increase. Along with the new minimum wage, unemployment benefits, severance pay, sick leave payments, intern salaries, military and maternity debt payments, GSS premiums, BES deductions, and voluntary insurance payments have also been recalculated. This regulation will directly affect the income and social security obligations of millions of workers.
A new minimum wage has been determined, affecting directly 7 million employees and indirectly the entire society.
27% INCREASE IN MINIMUM WAGE
The third meeting of the Minimum Wage Determination Commission to set the new minimum wage has concluded. After the meeting, Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan announced that the minimum wage, which will be valid in 2026, has been increased by 27% to a gross amount of 33,030 TL and a net amount of 28,075 TL.
INCREASE NOT LIMITED TO SALARIES
The increase in the minimum wage has directly affected many payment items, including unemployment benefits, severance pay, General Health Insurance (GSS) premiums, military and maternity debt payments, internship wages, Individual Retirement System (BES) deductions, and report payments.
UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS
According to the regulations, unemployment benefits cannot be less than 40% or more than 80% of the gross minimum wage.
With the new minimum wage:
- The lowest unemployment benefit is 13,123 TL
- The highest unemployment benefit is 26,221 TL.
MILITARY AND MATERNITY DEBT PAYMENTS
The debt amounts are calculated based on the daily gross minimum wage.
With the new regulation:
- The daily lowest debt payment is 352 TL
- The daily highest debt payment is set at 2,641 TL.
REPORT PAYMENTS
The temporary incapacity payments received by minimum wage employees have also increased:
- For outpatient treatment, the daily payment is 736.66 TL
- For inpatient treatment, the daily report payment will be 552.50 TL.
INTERNSHIP WAGES
The wage paid to interns cannot be less than 30% of the net minimum wage. Accordingly, with the new increase, the intern salary will rise to 8,421 TL.
GSS PREMIUM
The General Health Insurance (GSS) premium has also been redefined with the increase in the minimum wage. The monthly GSS premium, which was previously calculated based on 6% of the gross minimum wage, has risen to 1,981 TL.
SEVERANCE PAY BASE
With the increase in the gross amount of the minimum wage, the base amount for severance pay has also risen. The lowest severance pay to be paid to employees who leave or retire in 2026 will be 33,030 TL. The maximum amount will be determined according to the civil servant salary coefficient.
BES DEDUCTION AND VOLUNTARY INSURANCE
The Individual Retirement System (BES) deduction has increased by 27% to 990.79 TL.
In voluntary insurance premiums:
- The lowest premium is 10,568 TL
- The highest premium has risen to 79,264 TL.
