After the announcement of the minimum wage as 28,075 lira, the first statement came from Ergün Atalay, the President of TÜRK-İŞ. Atalay said, "This figure is not acceptable to the minimum wage earners, to us, or to the public. After seeing today's figure, we realized how right we are and how we should not participate."

The minimum wage for 2026 has officially been announced. With a 27% increase, the new minimum wage has been declared as 28,075 lira. After the announcement of the minimum wage, TÜRK-İŞ General President Ergün Atalay stepped in front of the cameras. Atalay stated that the announced figure is unacceptable.

FIRST STATEMENT FROM TÜRK-İŞ

Atalay said: "Today we received a letter from the ministry, stating that the commission will meet at 6:00 PM. This is the third letter we have received this year. We did not respond to any of the three letters."

ATALAY: WE SAW THAT WE WERE RIGHT NOT TO ATTEND THE MEETING

After seeing today's figure, we realized how right we were and how we should not have participated. Our demand was this: This wage has become a survival wage. A year ago, what were the prices of food, what increases occurred in education, rent, and transportation, let TÜİK take these into account. They should consider these four or five items we mentioned.

"NEITHER WE NOR THE MINIMUM WAGE EARNERS NOR THE PUBLIC WILL ACCEPT THIS FIGURE"

This announced figure is one that neither minimum wage earners, nor we, nor the public will accept. We did not participate because we know that as long as this structure continues, a healthy figure will not come out of this commission."
