After the meeting, Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan addressed the cameras and announced the minimum wage that will be valid for 2026. Minister Işıkhan stated, "The minimum wage has increased by 27% to a net of 28,075 Lira and a gross of 33,030 Lira for the year 2026."
Işıkhan said, "We are making improvements in the Minimum Wage Support to strengthen our registered employment and working life. We are raising the Minimum Wage Support to 1,270 Turkish Lira as of 2026."
IŞIKHAN: THE ESSENTIAL THING ABOUT MINIMUM WAGE IS NOT TO LOSE VALUE
Minister Işıkhan stated: "We can only make progress when we stand together, not by confronting each other. This country has experienced major earthquakes, a global pandemic, and global crises. I want to express clearly and unequivocally that despite all these adversities, we are experiencing a significant recovery in every field today. As the Turkish economy strengthens, our citizens will undoubtedly benefit the most from this.
The essential thing regarding the minimum wage, as well as other issues, is that it should not lose value in markets, bazaars, and shops. It is vital for our social peace and solidarity consciousness to reach a consensus at the most accurate and reasonable common point that will not allow our workers' rights and efforts to be eroded by inflation and will not make our employers unreasonable.
I would like to thank the Turkish Employers' Association Federation and Mr. Özgür Burak Akkol. I express my gratitude to our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who stands behind us, supports us, and paves the way for us for the future of our country and nation under all circumstances."
