An announcement was made by the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the reports that Aleyna Kalaycıoğlu, who was arrested in connection with the murder of football player Kubilay Kaan Kundakçı, is having a difficult time in prison, that there are a large number of inmates in her cell, that fights are constantly occurring, and that bunk beds are being used. The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office denied these allegations.

An explanation was made by the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the claims on social media about the situation of Aleyna Kalaycıoğlu, who was arrested in the investigation of the murder of football player Kubilay Kaan Kundakçı, who was killed in an armed attack in Ümraniye.

HERE ARE ALEyna KALAYCIOĞLU'S PRISON CONDITIONS

The statement made by the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office is as follows; "It has been observed that there are numerous claims on some social media accounts regarding Aleyna Tutuş Kalaycıoğlu, who was arrested due to the murder of Kubilay Kaan Kundakçı and is still in the Marmara Women's Closed Prison, stating that there are too many people in her cell, that fights occur frequently, that the ventilation area is insufficient, that there are not enough beds, that the detainee cannot eat, etc." 

In the Marmara Women's Closed Prison, there are a total of 16 rooms with a capacity of 32 people in the unit where the mentioned detainee is staying, and a total of 63 people are staying in the unit. There are 4 people in the room where the mentioned detainee is staying. The ventilation area of the unit is 162.1 m². All detainees and convicts are provided with beds, bedding sets, blankets, hygiene kits, disposable towels, etc. upon entering the institution; there are no detainees or convicts without beds in the institution. There is no record, verbal or written complaint regarding any fights occurring in the unit where the mentioned detainee is staying. 

A psychological interview was conducted on 24.03.2026, when the mentioned detainee was admitted to the institution; it was reported that she showed a positive attitude and behavior during the interviews and did not express any complaints. The detainee has not made any applications regarding the claims reflected on social media. For the reasons explained, the social media posts do not reflect the truth. It is respectfully announced to the public."

In the news in question, it was claimed that Kalaycıoğlu was staying in a cell with a capacity of 16 people with 80 people, that the prisoners slept in beds alternately, that fights frequently broke out in the cell, that the yard was only 10 steps long, that Kalaycıoğlu could not eat, that she constantly wanted to sleep, and that she fainted twice during this time and was taken to the infirmary. 

WHAT HAPPENED?

On March 19, in Sıddık Street, Tatlısu Neighborhood, Kundakçı, who was sitting in a parked vehicle with a friend, was seriously injured as a result of gunfire from one of the suspects who arrived at the scene in two vehicles, and he died in the hospital to which he was taken.

In the operation carried out by the Istanbul Police Department Public Order Branch teams, singer Aleyna Kalaycıoğlu, along with 8 suspects, including Alaattin Kadayıfçıoğlu, who was determined to have fired the gun, was captured.

In the operation carried out by the Homicide Bureau, the suspect who carried out the attack, Alaattin Kadayıfçıoğlu's father, B.K., and singer İzzet Yıldızhan were also detained.

After the suspects completed their procedures at the Istanbul Public Order Branch, they were referred to the courthouse.

Among the suspects brought before the prosecutor at the courthouse, B.K. was released after his statement, while Aleyna Kalaycıoğlu, İzzet Yıldızhan, Alaattin Kadayıfçıoğlu, M.R, H.C.A, M.K., and E.T. were referred to the peace criminal court for their arrest.

The other suspects, A.Ö. and Z.K., were released after the judicial control measures were applied by the peace criminal court to which they were referred after their statements.

The court decided to arrest the suspects Alaattin Kadayıfçıoğlu, Aleyna Kalaycıoğlu, İzzet Yıldızhan, M.R, H.C.A, M.K., and E.T.
