The accident occurred on November 18 at around 23:50 in the E-5 North road of the Mimarsinan neighborhood in Büyükçekmece. According to the information obtained, the driver, identified as Emre Talha S. (24), who was allegedly weaving in and out of traffic, rear-ended the car driven by Yasin Gökhan Erik (40), which was going in the same direction.
6-MONTH-OLD BABY DIED
Upon notification, police, medical, and fire teams were dispatched. In the accident, driver Yasin Gökhan Erik and his wife Merve Öztürk Erik were injured, while their 6-month-old baby Kaan Erik was taken to Mimarsinan State Hospital in critical condition. The mother, who was trapped in the vehicle, was rescued by fire crews and taken to Bakırköy Doctor Sadi Konuk Hospital. Despite all efforts, little Kaan, who was hospitalized in critical condition, could not be saved and passed away.
ARRESTED
Police teams who arrived at the scene apprehended the suspect driver Emre Talha S. A subsequent check revealed that the driver had a blood alcohol level of 2.00 promille. Following this, Emre Talha S. was taken into custody and brought to the police station. After the necessary procedures, the driver Emre Talha S. was referred to the courthouse, where he was arrested by the court and sent to prison.
It was learned that the treatment of the mother and father is ongoing.
